Towel and Basin Award Winner 2026
The Towel and Basin Award honors a student who embodies the heart of Christ through a life of humble service, loving presence, and consistent care for others.
This year, we are deeply honored to present this award to Sarah Tucker.
Sarah is from Lubbock, Texas and will be ordained in the Global Methodist Church this upcoming summer after graduation. Sarah has faithfully lived out a servant鈥檚 heart in every space she inhabits. Through her leadership as a Student Life Assistant in Bettie Morrison this past year and her involvement in campus life she has quietly and consistentl poured herself out for the good of others. Sarah has also served as the Student Intramural Coordinator, and as a member of the Kentucky Campus’s Chapel Team.
Yet what sets Sarah apart is not simply what she does, but how she does it. Sarah is known for her intentional, relational presence. She takes time to truly see people鈥攅specially those who may feel unseen. Whether checking in around campus, sharing a cup of chai, offering prayer, or simply making space for someone to belong, Sarah has created a culture of care and connection for those
around her.
Students consistently speak of how she helped them feel known, valued, and welcomed鈥攐ften at moments when they needed it most. As a leader, Sarah exemplifies authenticity, humility, and quiet strength. She serves with joy, works diligently behind the scenes, and gives of herself sacrificially for the sake of her community. Her influence extends beyond programs or roles; it is deeply personal and spiritually grounded. She openly shares how Christ is at work in her life, pointing others to Him not only through her words but through the integrity and consistency of her life.
Sarah鈥檚 commitment to her own formation is equally evident. She approaches her studies not simply as an academic pursuit, but as an invitation to deeper transformation, integrating learning, faith, and calling in a way that reflects a mature and growing disciple.
In Sarah Tucker, we see a beautiful reflection of Christ鈥攖he One who knelt with towel and basin, serving others in love. Her life among us has shaped this community in lasting ways, and there is no doubt she will continue to bless and lead with grace wherever God calls her next.
